Where We Helped

BRAND IDENTITY - website design

We were so excited when Harriet & Matt approached us with their business plan; to design & build, themselves (!!) a group of luxury treetop cabins nestled in the woodlands of their family’s private estate in Herefordshire. They were starting with one cabin to begin with, and asked us to create a brand identity & website for their business Brinsop Treehouses and also their sub-brand The Quist.

We helped discover the brand names, in particular the cabin name - The Quist - we took inspiration from local Herefordshire history, and the surroundings of where the cabin would be built. The cabin would be built in the woods and we stumbled across a lovely old Herefordian dialect word - The Quist - Which means Wood pigeon or old codger, as in funny old quist.

Matt designed and built the structure of the treehouse and Harriet designed the interiors. We were in constant communication with Matt & Harriet, asking for imagery and sketches of teh build. Harriet shred with me her mood boards for interiors, which we took much inspiration from in terms of colour - matching brand colours to paint and fabric swatches. This logo mark was first inspired by a very simple representation of a branch, we then began to see synchronicities everywhere.
We discovered that if we “broke” the branch into two it would make two little bird feet for our Quist or Wood Pigeon, of which there are plenty in the surrounding woodlands of Merry Hill where this treehouse is nestled. Then finally, just to solidify our choice, Harriet & Matt recognised this shape in the very first structures of the treehouse. The choice was made for us really, and I love that simplicity prevailed.

We strived for simplicity in use with the website, there was a lot of important information to communicate and we wanted to keep this all on a single page but we didn’t want to overwhelm the user. So we custom built a sticky secondary navigation on the property page, which means as you scroll it stays in place at the top. We then added anchor links to each header in that navigation so that it that jumps to the respective sections on that page. This means that all the content is on one page, but it’s easy a quick to find the bits of information you want to see in bitesize chunks.
